Brook Mead Academy is scheduled to open its doors to its founding cohort in late August 2021.
Brook Mead Academy is TMET’s second free school and will replicate the high quality provision offered by other secondary schools within The Mead Educational Trust including Rushey Mead Academy and Castle Mead Academy, all of which offer a broad and rich curriculum within a nurturing and inclusive environment.
Brook Mead, which is located in the heart of Leicester, provides its pupils with all round support and offer a strong academic curriculum including foreign languages, history and geography alongside maths, English and science. Through its ambitious curriculum, it strives to ensure all pupils have “access to the best which has been thought, said written and created in every field of human endeavour.” Brook Mead Academy also believes in enabling pupils to develop their talents and all round character with sports, arts and music embedded into its extended school day.
Born in Uganda, Rita arrived in the UK aged nine in 1972 as a refugee, part of the exodus of Ugandan Asians. She has taught English in Leicester schools held a number of senior leadership roles at Rushey Mead Academy and was principal there between 2014-18. She is a senior partner in the Challenge Partner network of schools.
Rita regards herself as a lifelong learner and likes to keep up to date with latest research and thinking in the field of education, particularly with regard to the promotion of social mobility, equality and excellence.
