Fosse Mead Primary Academy is a busy but friendly school based north-west of Leicester City.
Staff work extremely hard on behalf of their children ensuring that children leave Fosse ready for the challenges of secondary school. They have high expectations for everyone at Fosse and, as an ethnically diverse school with children from all over the world and, at the last count, thirty six languages spoken by our families, we offer a curriculum which supports all children according to their need, regardless of their age, gender, disability, religion, belief, race or socio-economic background.
Jay Virk is an experienced headteacher of 16 years and has led Fosse Mead since August 2021. Jay has a range of experience across a number of settings and, during her 31 year teaching career, she has taught across the entire primary age range.
Jay is a passionate educator. She has a distributed leadership style and maintains high standards for the benefit of all her children – her focus remains on what is best for the children of Fosse Mead.
In 2013, Jay obtained an MBA in Educational Leadership. She is also an Ofsted Inspector and LLE in the East Midlands area, which enable her to renew and improve teaching and learning practice within the Mead family of schools.
