Academy Information

Kibworth Mead Academy is a 11-16 secondary school situated in Leicestershire that serves approximately 850 pupils. It aims to provide every pupil with the outstanding education they deserve and to empower them to achieve great things.


Principal – Steve Piggot


Steve has been the principal of Kibworth Mead Academy since August 2022. Steve starting his teaching career in 2001 as a geography teacher at The Lancaster School, moving on to work as head of humanities and assistant headteacher at the outstanding Guilsborough Academy. Following this he was then appointed as deputy principal and then principal at Fullhurst Community College in Leicester City. During Steve’s four years as Principal at Fullhurst the school was recognised by the Department of Education for its work with Pupil Premium students, shortlisted as finalists for the national school of the year award, was the Leicestershire School of the Year and expanded from 900 pupils to 1500.

Steve has also been a vice chair of trustees of a multi academy trust in Leicestershire, a pupil premium reviewer and a Challenge Partner reviewer. He is passionate that all students receive the opportunities to be successful, confident and responsible young people equipped with academic qualifications as well as the personal and social skills to enable them to make a positive difference to their community and the wider world.
