Rushey Mead Academy, the founding academy within The Mead Educational Trust, is a joyous and successful academy which challenges each member of its community to excel.

Rushey Mead Academy is a vibrant and highly successful school which serves communities in the north of Leicester. The whole community at the academy seeks to “Make a positive difference by creating a vibrant, principled community of learners in pursuit of educational excellence and fulfilment for all.” Rushey Mead Academy has a long and proud history of achieving outstanding outcomes for students in terms of attainment and progress, achieving consistently well above national averages on key performance measures.

Having been judged as Outstanding since 2007, the school has a long established national profile for excellence in teaching, leadership and student outcomes.

Vicky has been Interim Principal at Rushey Mead Academy since autumn 2021. She started her career in 2006 as a teacher of mathematics. She fulfilled several roles in Leicester City schools including teacher, head of year, head of faculty, advanced skills teacher, and senior leader before joining TMET in 2014 as maths lead. She became vice principal for curriculum at Rushey Mead Academy in 2016.

Vicky is a Challenge Partners trained reviewer and Specialist Leader of Education in mathematics. She is passionate about mathematics as a beautiful subject within the curriculum and a fundamental skill for life. She is driven to support young people in overcoming obstacles and barriers to learning and achievement, having herself been a young carer for her disabled mother and in receipt of free school meals. She is committed to the social justice agenda and sees a quality education as an entitlement for every child and young person.
