The following FAQs have been published to assist staff with the upcoming IT Migration to TMET systems. This page is updated periodically.

Yes, the IT team along with other members of the wider TMET IT team, will be onsite every day once term commences and will be based in the IT office. You will also be able to access the TMET Service desk where you will be able to log any issues, the link is on your new desktop. You can alternatively email [email protected] which will log a ticket.

Yes, all emails sent to your old address will come through to the new address (@brookvalegroby-tmet.uk). This will be the case from 11th July 3pm. This will be particular important as you will require this to password reset any accounts you may have linked to your old email address.

When you first login to the TMET system, you will be able to use your current password. However, on your first time logging into the TMET system, you will be prompted to change your password. A small number of staff have been contacted already to arrange to setup their new account due to other TMET colleagues already having the same username. If you have any issues, then do let us know.

It is TMET policy that memory sticks are restricted and therefore cannot be used. These are classed as a security risk to the network, and the decision was taken to limit their use. Any big files you need to share, you can do this via OneDrive or Google Drive. See guide below:

When you first login, to Office 365, you will be required to setup multi factor authentication. You can do this via the app or using your mobile number. For help, see the guides below:

Unfortunately, no. Due to safeguarding and web filtering concerns, Google Chrome is disabled across TMET. We utilise Microsoft Edge which automatically syncs to your Office 365 account – and is built on the same browser as Google Chrome.

We have helpful guides on how to migrate your passwords/bookmarks across to Edge in our other FAQs. If you are unsure, please ask the IT team.

Regarding Chrome Extensions, as Chrome is the same as Edge, we can allow certain extensions to be installed. However, these will need to be checked before they are approved so please drop the team an email using [email protected]

TMET schools only have access to Microsoft Edge as a web browser. Once you have imported your passwords/bookmarks, they will be available on any TMET computer or laptop you login to in the future. To import passwords into Edge, see guides below:

Importing Passwords to Microsoft Edge
Importing Bookmarks to Microsoft Edge

All Google resources will be accessible from the 14th July via your new TMET email address. All shared Drives shared files and classroom will be retained. Google Classroom will continue to sync from Arbor at the start of the new term. The only Google application that will be unavailable will be Gmail as all email will be moved to Outlook.

Emails will now be accessible via Microsoft Outlook. You can use a browser or the app that will be installed on all the computers within the school and your staff laptop. If you would like to access the via the web browser, please go to https://www.outlook.com/owa/tmet.uk and use your new TMET email address and password. If you are on a TMET devices you will be automatically logged in based on your computer login.  You can also add your new email to your personal device, if you wish, using the Outlook app from the appropriate App Stores.

Your documents (N Drive) will be migrated to the TMET systems which can be found in the same place on your desktop/laptop (N Drive/My Documents/OneDrive).

The shared drives will be migrated across during the migration weeks – and you will have access as normal once you login to your new laptop/desktop.

You can also access your files and the shared drives from any non-school/TMET device by accessing https://myfiles.tmet.uk and logging in with your username and password.

The new printers will require you to register your ID card. This is a one-time requirement which will allow for faster access to the printers in the future. You will require to scan your card, type your username and password (the same as your computer login) once. When you have done this, you will be able to scan your card on the printer from there on in.

Students will be able to access approved YouTube videos as normal. The approved lists that are currently setup will be moved across to the new web filtering provider, Smoothwall.

Going forwards, any content that you wish to be available to students during lessons/at home, should be emailed through to IT Services to be added to the allow list ([email protected] or the IT Service Desk shortcut on your desktop).

All student user accounts will be recreated using the Trust format – G25JBloggs. G (Groby), 25 (Year of Entry), J (First name initial), Bloggs (Surname). All students will have their login details (username, email and password) shared prior to the end of summer term. Each students emails and files will be moved across to their new accounts as part of the migration.

Students Google accounts will remain the same, although they will be asked to login with their new credentials as above.
